In the Media

TV and Radio

I have experience sharing my research on a variety of media platforms, including TV and Radio. I have been interviewed about my research for TV features on Sky News (international), BBC, ITV and STV News (national), and for radio features on BBC Radio Shetland.

In Print: Newspapers, Books and Magazines

My research has captured the attention of the international, national and local press. It has been featured in the Independent, the Daily Mail, Sky News, BBC News, STV News, the National, the Sunday Post, the Daily Record, the Scottish Daily Express, the Press and Journal, the Scotsman, Shetland News, Scottish Field, the Edinburgh News and the Courier

In 2021 I was delighted to have a visit from Jo Moseley whilst she was writing her book. We talked marine biology and all things whales and dolphins, and I showed her my favourite paddleboarding spots around the East Neuk of Fife whilst sharing my favourite adventure snacks with her. My recommendations and the story of her visit are now featured as a chapter dedicated to Fife in her award-winning book 'Stand Up Paddleboarding in Great Britain - Beautiful Places to Paddleboard in England, Scotland and Wales'. I highly recommend it for anyone that enjoys exploring the outdoors and would like inspiration for new spots to discover!

Photos and stories from Jo's visit also featured in the June 2022 issue of SUPMag!

Podcasts

I have been an invited guest onto many fantastic podcast series, to be interviewed and discuss my marine research (e.g. eu:sci Not Another Science Podcast ‘Less Commotion in the Ocean, WDC's The Resident Pod’, Water Women), and to discuss my activities outside of academia (although admittedly also marine related! e.g. the Joy of SUP, Finisterre + RNLI With Courage, RNLI special, Scottish Fisheries Museum ‘Anchored: Marine Life in Lockdown).

I am privileged to have been an ambassador for a number of causes I care about - particularly promoting the wild outdoors of Scotland (via VisitScotland and Promote Shetland), and the RNLI (via the RNLI and through a collaboration with Finisterre).
